ALOGLIPTIN; METFORMIN is a combination of 2 medicines used to treat type 2 diabetes. This medicine lowers blood sugar. Metformin, a biguanide, works by lowering the amount of sugar your liver releases into your blood and helps your body respond better to insulin. ALOGLIPTIN, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, works by increasing the amount of insulin your body makes.

How To Use:

1 tablet (Vipdomet 12.5/1000 mg) twice daily with food. Healthcare providers should individualize the starting dose of ALOGLIPTIN and metformin HCl tablets based on the patient’s current regimen. ALOGLIPTIN and metformin HCl tablets should be taken twice daily with food with gradual dose escalation to reduce the gastrointestinal (GI) side effects due to metformin.

Dosing may be different based on effectiveness and tolerability while not exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose of :

• 25 mg ALOGLIPTIN and 2000 mg metformin HCl.

Cautions and warnings:

• Avoid foods that are high in saturated and trans fats.
• Instead, consume fats from fish, nuts, and olive oil.
• Eat carbohydrates that come from vegetables, fruits, and whole grains.
• Be sure to monitor your carbohydrate intake, as this will directly affect your blood sugar.
• If your kidneys are not functioning properly (ALOGLIPTIN / metformin) can lead to a condition called lactic acidosis.

Symptoms of lactic acidosis include:

• malaise, muscle pain, breathing problems, sleepiness, and abdominal pain.
