Nizatidine is an H2 receptor antagonist used to treat ulcers. It inhibits the binding of histamine to the H2-receptors on the gastric membrane of parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretions and ulcer formation.
- Heals and stops ulcers in the stomach, or the part where it empties into the small intestine
- Heals and stops problems caused by acid reflux in the esophagus
- Reduces pain or discomfort known as indigestion, acid reflux or heartburn
- Prevents ulcers which may be caused by nsaid (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) treatment i.e. Ibuprofen, diclofenac, often used as analgesic
